PARENTAL RIGHTS UNDER ASSAULT AGAIN!
Protect Our Children from Sexual Predators
Enough. It’s time to defend parental rights in education! By signing this action, developed by #ParentsUniteRI, education officials will be informed that you will hold them accountable if they do not put students first and do not respect the rights of parents.
Our core belief is that parents – not government ideologues – have the moral and legal right to determine our children’s educational and health paths.
By signing this petition, I am informing you that:
I OPPOSE the “Criminal harassment” legislation (House bill #H7247 and Senate bill #S2647) that would make it a crime, punishable by imprisonment, for example, if persistent parents were to engage in the normal democratic process of petitioning a specific elected official about policies they oppose or support.
Parents have the right to raise their children as they see fit and to hold public officials publicly accountable if they betray the public’s trust or violate parental rights … public officials should not be immune from scrutiny or criticism.
I SUPPORT Senate bill #S2219 that expands the definition of “Sexaul Assault” to include the acts of any person in a “position of authority” over children under the age of eighteen (18) to include any form of “sexual contact’. Current law only includes “sexual penetration”.
Protecting Our Children: As the “naked body-fat testing” scandal continues to unfold in the North Kingstown school district, it has become crystal-clear that Rhode Island’s sexual assault laws must be reformed.
